Contrary to the sameness that the word "desert" suggests, the Gobi, the northernmost desert in the world, is a fascinating and diverse region with the terrains of mountains, sandstone cliffs, lush green oases and sand dunes. It is also home for many endangered and vulnerable wildlife including Bactrian camel, Gobi bear, Mongolian wild ass, snow leopard, saiga antelope. This area is considered to be the “cemetery” for dinosaurs due to abundance of dinosaur skeletons and fossils found and it especially became internationally famous thanks to American scientist Roy Chapman Andrews’ expedition in early 1920s who discovered the first dinosaur egg nest the world ever seen.
